Welcome!

Welcome to this site for explorers – spiritual journey-ers – the engaged – the bereaved – those who wish to enrich and deepen their spiritual lives. Life presents us with many experiences of relationship and options for growth. I hope that I might share and support some part of your journey.

Grace and peace to you – Anne

About

I am interested in meaning and in human becoming. These interests have led me to train as a spiritual director, to study theology and to be ordained in the Anglican Church. Whether religious or not, we are each invited to explore those things which enrich our lives, bring life to the soul, and enliven the world around us.

While my background is in the church, including 10 years as Vicar at St Peter’s in Palmerston North, I am drawn to the wider field of spirituality: the Enneagram and Celtic spirituality, saints and mystics, to contemplation and Centering prayer, the labyrinth and Jungian dream work.

I love yoga and working in my garden.

Spiritual Direction

Let your life speak. Parker J Palmer

Spiritual direction helps a person to pay attention to their own life and engage with what is most life-giving. In direction, one is invited to tell one’s own story, discern a sense of call and to look out for the divine mystery at its centre,

For the past almost 20 years, I have been listening other people into life as they tell their stories, and engage with their quests for meaning and wholeness. It is a privileged space to be in. If this interests you, please get in touch. I would be very happy to talk it over with you.

I trained as a spiritual director through Spiritual Growth Ministries in New Zealand, and am a member of both the New Zealand Association of Spiritual Directors and of Spiritual Directors International, an inter-faith group.

Supervision

Good supervision facilitates reflection on our work and enables professional growth and enhances our relationships with others and what we do. It is a safe processing place as well as a space for personal growth.

I have trained in supervision through Spiritual Growth Ministries. I welcome enquiries, in particular from those working in fields with which I have experience: spiritual direction and pastoral ministry.

Face to face appointments available in Palmerston North, and near Taupo (possibly also Hawke’s Bay); otherwise via phone (Skype, messenger etc)

Weddings

Marriage is a significant life transition. I have facilitated meaningful rituals of marriage in churches, in gardens and in private homes. Each ceremony has been different – some secular, some religious, crafted to meet the needs of each couple.

I look forward to meeting you, and talking about what you would like to make your day special and your union sacred. Please get in touch!

Funerals

A good ritual of farewell helps ease the trauma we feel when faced with death, it is necessary for processing grief and assists with healing.

Over the years, I have been privileged to accompany many families in grief, and to conduct funerals for their loved ones. Many of the funerals that I have taken are traditional, but I have also conducted secular services, and am happy to help you put together some blend of the two. The type of funeral that I take is warm and dignified, respectful and compassionate, honouring both those who grieve and the one who has died.

Please enquire if you would like another ritual: a memorial service, burial of ashes, blessing of a headstone or a home. In framing sensitive rites around death, we build new foundations for life.
